Can plants remove warts?
The question of whether plants can really eliminate warts in those people who already suffer from HPV has always been recurring, especially outside the professional medical sector.
The truth is that plants like calendula or podophyllum offer good results in terms of removing warts. Although of course, it is important to clarify that this does not eliminate HPV from the body.
It is important to note that there are currently more than 100 types of HPV, each one numerically cataloged based on the level of risk they present to the body.
Having said this, it is highly recommended that if you do not notice advances with the use of plants, you should change your treatment.
What types of plants or herbs eliminate warts?
Below we have prepared an interesting list with some of the plants most commonly used as a natural treatment for warts:
1. The Fig Tree for plantar warts
One of the main benefits of the fig tree is the latex it contains, which, being antiviral, effectively combats warts produced by HPV.
In some parts of the world, it is customary to grind the leaves of this plant and heat it to finally place it on the injured area.
2. The Calendula
Another of the most widely used plants is Calendula, which has high levels of saponin and resin, necessary oils for treatment. And most importantly, salicylic acid.
The liquid produced by this plant gradually weakens the warts until they fall off on their own.
3. The Celandine
While this plant is one of the most effective in eliminating warts caused by some type of HPV, it is especially recommended to take good care during its handling, as its properties are corrosive.
Because of this, its use is only advisable in small amounts through three daily applications over a period of 2 to 3 weeks.
4. The Aloe Vera for genital warts and warts on face
The Aloe Vera plant is widely used not only in the treatment of warts, but also in countless skin infections for centuries.
What makes this plant so versatile is its antiseptic ability that is employed with good results when dealing with certain bacteria, fungi, and of course, warts caused by HPV.
5. The Podophyllum
The main advantage of using this type of plant in the treatment of warts is that this species contains properties that prevent HPV cells from continuing to oppose the immune system by blocking their division process.
6. The Verrucaria
The use of this plant is recommended in mild cases where the warts are not of significant thickness, as its action tends to be a bit slower than the rest of the options already mentioned.
To use the plant, take a gauze that contains the liquid from it and apply it to the warts you want to eliminate.
7. Chinese herbs for warts
Ginseng and ginkgo biloba are two Chinese herbs that boost your immune system (the key to getting rid of HPV and warts.). You can prepare an infusion with both to get rid of warts:
- You’ll need ginseng root or powder and ginkgo biloba leaves. These can be purchased at natural food stores or online.
- Take 1 teaspoon of ginseng and 1 teaspoon of ginkgo biloba leaves. Add these herbs to a cup of boiling water.
- Allow the herbs to steep in the hot water for about 10-15 minutes to release their properties.
- Strain the infusion to remove the leaves and root, then serve. You can sweeten to taste with honey or stevia.
Warning: Ginseng and ginkgo biloba can interact with some medications and medical conditions. Always consult your doctor before beginning any herbal supplement regimen, especially if you have medical conditions or are taking medications.

Can I have sex as soon as the warts disappear?
It should be noted that, although warts caused by HPV disappear either by having had good results with natural remedies or other types of treatments…
… it is not recommended to have sexual intercourse until the virus disappears from your body.
The latter is due to the fact that the HPV virus can remain in the body while fighting with your immune system even though you have managed to eliminate the warts from the affected area.
So far it has been proven that the Human Papilloma Virus can take 2 years or less to be eliminated by the immune system.
That being said, the specialist will have the last word on this aspect after having followed up with several studies to determine your current state.
With regard to this section, there is also the question of whether it is advisable to practice sex with a condom even when HPV is active in the immune system. The answer is no, as the virus can be transmitted even with the use of this preventive method.
